At the heart of Wood Green School’s ethos is our commitment to individualised, focused and purposeful academic tutoring, and the teacher-student relationship which underpins it. Our belief that Wood Green School succeeds when it cares for the overall development of each student is reflected in our excellent pastoral care provision. Individual needs are best met through secure, positive relationships between staff and students. Teaching and learning are supported by academic tutors who also offer guidance and advice to students in their care.
Each student meets regularly with his or her academic tutor to review their academic progress, to set personal targets and to evaluate their successes. The academic tutor plays a key role in each student’s welfare and academic development, and is also responsible for liaising with parents using a variety of means, such as Review Days, email and reports.
