Local and National data shows that students whose attendance is more than 95% over a year have a greater chance of achieving better outcomes in all areas than those whose attendance falls below 95%. Next half term we will be starting conversations with those students whose attendance last year was between 90% and 95% to talk to them about the importance of being in school. We will also be contacting parents.
We recognise that sometimes absence is unavoidable and will always take individual circumstances into consideration. However, given the known impact poor attendance can have on outcomes, it is important to open communication where necessary and this is one of the ways we are monitoring and promoting good attendance in school.
