Bored in the holidays? Try Book Bingo!

As the holidays begin, and students enjoy a well earned break here are a couple of ideas for those long sunny days and endless journeys! Why not get stuck in to a good book or two- or five?

Following last year's Caught Reading campaign, where students and teachers sent in photos of themselves reading, this year we have Book Bingo. You need to read a line down, across or diagonally on the bingo card. The rules of Book Bingo allow you to double up once, so four books will get you a line. Why stop there, though? Cineworld Witney have very generously donated sixteen cinema tickets as well as some film merchandise as prizes to those students in each year group who read the most. Simply show your English teacher (or tutor in the Sixth Form) the completed card, be prepared to prove you've read the book and be in with the chance of claiming a prize. How many books will you read? Students- get your families playing too! You can download the Book Bingo card here.

For those looking forward to some quality time on their smartphones and tablets, have a look at some games which are fun to play and which will boost your word power at the same time. I love Chicktionary, Word Brain and Word Scramble. Search 'word games' in the App Store or Google Play and see if you can find more. Please let me know if you have any recommendations!

Happy wordy summer everyone!
