Caught Reading Summer Campaign

English teachers have been busy in these final lessons encouraging classes to read over the summer and year 8 students have been covering the walls of corridors with pictures of their teacher 'Caught Reading'.

In the final assembly, I invited students (and staff!) to email photos of themselves over the summer and email them to me at s.enright@wgswitney.org.uk. They can look out for themselves in an assembly and on display in the new term.

Research shows that reading over the summer holiday can stop the 'summer slide' where students come back to school with very rusty skills and take precious weeks reacclimatising to learning.

Please encourage them in this- Caught Reading is a really fun campaign and highlights the fact that we can all enjoy a good book in those lovely, long weeks of summer. Why not get creative yourself with the photos? Prizes will be awarded for the best ones!
