Wood Green School has recruited its first group of talented IT students to act as expert Digital Leaders and help fellow pupils and teachers make the most of exciting new technologies.
Headteacher Rob Shadbolt comments:
The idea behind the Digital Leaders is quite simple: recruit students with a passion for IT and give them an opportunity to write and produce school newsletters; update the school website; create ‘how to video help guides; test and review new ICT resources. I know they want to run a Genius Bar help clinics at lunchtime for students and staff and in so doing develop and share their own technical expertise.
To support the Digital Leaders initiative, Wood Green has turned to our Specialist School sponsor, Microsoft, to ensure every student in the school can use the latest Office software at home - as well accessing online school resources and 25Gb of cloud based storage.
Parent and Microsoft Schools Business Manager Graham Fox notes
I am delighted that Wood Green is building on its historic links with Microsoft to apply the latest IT technologies to teaching and learning. The benefits of having a licence agreement enables the school to offer students a full copy of office at home at no additional cost. This helps to narrow the digital divide, familiarise every student with key productivity tools and gain valuable skills for future employment.
