We have a large and successful programme of extra-curricular ensembles. There are around 200 students participating in these ensembles each week and the department runs two tours to European countries each year, previously visiting destinations such as Lake Garda, Italy and Disneyland, Paris. This year, our ensembles will be touring Soest, Holland and Barcelona, Spain. Closer to home, Wood Green School’s ensembles have been invited to play at events held at Blenheim Palace, Buckingham Palace, Birmingham Conservatoire and many other prestigious venues. Most of our ensembles compete annually in the Regional Festival of Music for Youth, some have been invited to perform at the national finals in Birmingham. We currently have a Junior Choir of about 110 students, a Senior Choir of about 85 students, a Senior Boys’ Choir, a Senior Girls’ Choir, an invitation only Chamber Choir, a 50 piece Concert Band, an Orchestra, a Big Band and a Jazz Combo.
