Year 9 students wrote persuasive speeches, enjoying the chance to rant about an entertainingly wide range of subjects from chair legs to animal cruelty, and from annoying siblings to rugby practice in the rain! The winners received their prizes this week in our celebration assemblies and you can read them here. Joni Mo, Zac Bradley and Daniel Wallwork won £10 vouchers, Ella Woodbridge was the runner up and Joseph Partridge was the overall winner, winning a £35 WHS voucher. Thank you too, to all those Year 9 writers who entertained and moved us with their writing.
Year 10 students have also been busy writing this term, in their case producing crafted descriptive writing based on an image, a skill they will need for their GCSE exam. We were impressed with the final pieces. Congratulations to Freya Green who won the English Department £10 prize and to Mary Collingridge, Beth Henning and Emily Little, runners up, winning £15 WHS vouchers each. The winner, chosen by Helen Hunt, our generous sponsor, was Liam Arnold who wins £30. Well done, too, to all the Year 10s who are rising to the challenge of the new GCSE so impressively.
