Moving to a new school can be a challenge for any student. At Wood Green School we would like you to feel ready and confident that you can make this step and be excited about what the future holds for you here. All of you will be arriving from smaller Primary schools and coming to “big” school may seem quite worrying.
In previous years, the Lead for Transition, Mr Roberts has come to each of the Primary schools to talk to you and your teachers as part of the ‘moving up process’. Due to the current situation, he has not able to do this. However, Mr Roberts has been in contact with your teachers via email and phone calls to build up a picture of each of you in the same way as he would have done if he were able to visit your school.
Your parents have also been involved in the process of adding to the picture by completing the Information pack.
As Year 6’s we also want to give you a chance to participate in this process, as you would have done if Mr Roberts were coming in to your school. So if you have any questions for him please email him on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The following links give you information about life as a student at Wood Green School and introduce you to some important members of staff who will help with your transition to Secondary School. We hope that you will find them useful.
Please contact us email@example.com if you have any further questions about the Transition Process.
We look forward to seeing you all soon. In the meantime Be Well and Stay Safe.
Here at Wood Green, we have a strong culture of reading. Every day in school, we have a 20 minute reading time and all our year 7 and 8 students take part in the Accelerated Reader scheme which encourages them to read, take quizzes on their books and compete to be the best-read tutor group each term.
During this period away from school, we have been encouraging our students with our KEEP READING! campaign. Please click here to see the video staff have made to share with our students:
We also run a summer reading challenge and this year's is the best yet! It's our Remote Reading 2020 Challenge and it has lots of ideas and suggestions for accessing reading material in lockdown. Please click here to download a copy and join in: we'd love to see your completed challenges when you join us at Wood Green School!
