It has been a slow start to the Summer term but with lots of fixtures and summer games ahead we are hopeful that the temperatures will rise and that the sun will shine and that no other fixtures will be cancelled due to inclement weather.
This week the U15 boys tennis team travelled to Saint Birinus but were unfortunately defeated 5-1.
Some great swimming success has been achieved recently by Eleanor Perks in Year 9
Eleanor recently competed in the South East Regional Swimming Championships. As a result of her efforts, and her performance on the day Eleanor is now the South East Regional Champion for the Girl's U14 200m Breast stroke.
She also came 2nd in the 100m Breast stroke and the 200m individual medley, 3rd in the 50m Breast stroke and 4th in the 400m Individual medley.
Due to this success, she now has four qualifying times for the British Championships in July. This is for the top 20 swimmers in her age group from the whole of the UK and Eleanor will travel to Glasgow in July to compete in the British Championships.
A truly great achievement and we would like to wish Eleanor every success at the British Championships and we look forward to hearing how she gets on.
Next week sees some of the Year 9 Sports Leaders take part in the I Can Lead Tri Golf Training in preparation for running the School Games and West Oxfordshire competition. Year 7-10 Athletes will attend the WOSSP Athletics meet at Horsepath. There is an U15 cricket match to be played at Chipping Norton School and U13 and U15 Tennis play away at Matthew Arnold.
I look forward to reporting further news on the achievements of our teams and individual athletes in the coming weeks.
