Careers Home

At Wood Green, we want every student to leave school prepared for life in the modern world. The world of work is constantly changing and competition for good employment is high.

We therefore encourage students to plan early and broadly for their own future and we provide support in considering all available options that match their interests and skills.

Students can feel pressurized to make choices earlier than they should, or without the facts and information they need. There can be a huge amount to absorb. We aim to help pupils and parents find their way through, by providing timely advice and guidance right the way across Years 7-13. This support is further enhanced by Wood Green’s strong relationships with independent careers advisers, employers, training providers, colleges, and universities.

Working together, we help students make the most informed decisions about their next steps in education, training or employment.

WGS Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance Policy

Every school must ensure that there is an opportunity for a range of education and training providers to access all pupils in Year 7 to Year 13 for the purpose of informing them about approved technical education qualifications or apprenticeships.

Every school must publish a policy statement setting out their arrangements for provider access and ensure that it is followed. The statement must outline…

  • any procedural requirement in relation to requests for access;
  • grounds for granting and refusing requests for access;
  • details of premises or facilities to be provided to a person who is given access.
