This November, Oxford Global celebrated the ten-year anniversary of their Model United Nations conference and A-Level students from Wood Green School were joined there by 900 other UK and international students.

Guided by a team of Oxford professors, industry experts, and researchers, Wood Green A-level students were challenged to implement viable solutions to world challenges during an engaging 3-day summit.

They participated in mock UN committees, with sessions led by University of Oxford students. They engaged with debate simulations and an innovative crisis programme, exchanging ideas with peers from around the world.

The theme for this year’s conference was ‘Ten Years of Oxford Global: Looking Back and Looking Forward’, students closely examined the past and future of international diplomacy, addressed today’s pressing global issues, as well as an innovative array of historical committees, and speculative ‘future committees’ at the cutting edge of predictions for our planet’s future.

Two of our students won prizes at the event Ollie Le Feuvre won the Outstanding Delegate and Isaac Slater picked up an Honourable Mention in the European Court of Human Rights.

Wood Green School are very proud of them as well as Hannah Lee, Oscar Archibald, Erin Timms, Isobel Dains, Bethany Jones, Bea Smith, Eva Mackrory and Ariana Walker who all joined the debates, everyone had a fantastic weekend, enjoyed it all and learnt a lot. Congratulations to all involved.

Do you want to join them next year? Then why not come along to our open evening this Thursday 16th November.
