Careers Events

SCHOOL EVENTS

The Careers Detective and Human Library are events are all about students learning more about what careers are available. We held these in March and April and were a great success.

The aim of the event was for students to challenge any stereo types they may have and learn more about different roles and careers. Individuals bought in an item that illustrates their job as a clue, students then talked with them for 5minutes asking only yes/no questions, so they must think very carefully.

We are always looking for volunteers to participate in our next events so if you would like to express an interest then please do contact us.
We are particularly keen to hear from people who break traditional stereotypes in their role, but welcome interest from anyone who can spare the time.

APPRENTICESHIPS

The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2023 was 'Skills for Life'; reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.  Apprenticeships are a great route into an industry of interest to you. They combine practical on the job training with off the job training so you can gain industry knowledge, experience and skills all while getting paid and working towards a nationally recognised qualification. There are over 600 apprenticeships that can lead to a wide range of exciting career opportunities. There is comprehensive list of apprenticeships by industry sector for you to explore.

Apprenticeships by sector

In support of National Apprenticeship Week, Minister Halfon, the Minister for Apprenticeships, has written to students and parents to explain why apprenticeships are such a great option to consider after school or college and the opportunities and benefits apprenticeships can bring to  young people.
